drunk driving Daytona Beach, FL - A Cocoa Beach woman leaves Volusia County Jail after allegedly hitting people and damaging vehicles while driving drunk at Daytona International Speedway. 43-year-old Abbie M. Kinney was arrested around 2:45 AM Saturday by the Daytona Beach Police Department in the infield camping area near Lake Lloyd. She's free on $5,000 bond from VCJ after being charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, 4 counts of injuring people while DUI and 5 counts of DUI with property damage. She was also ticketed for careless driving. According to her arrest report, Kinney was discovered by officers inside a black Toyota truck on Lake Lloyd Road with a "strong odor of alcohol" on her breath around 2:15 AM Saturday. 4 witnesses told DBPD that they saw Kinney crash that truck into 4 people and 6 vehicles before officers got on scene, including some motor homes. When questioned by police, Kinney told officers that she "shouldn't have been driving" because she had drunk at least 3 beers prior to getting behind the wheel, per the report. Officers say Kinney failed field sobriety exercises and blew a .179 on the Breathalyzer after she was taken to DBPD headquarters. That's well above the legal limit for blood alcohol content. The report didn't indicate how much property damage was caused, how seriously the people were hurt of if they needed treatment.
