Palm Coast, FL - The City of Palm Coast will celebrate the City Hall's conservation-related features and Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification with a "Green City Hall" event.
The "Green City Hall" event is on Saturday, April 1, from 10 AM to 1 PM, at the Palm Coast City Hall, 160 Lake Ave., adjacent to Central Park in Town Center. The event is free and open to all. The ceremony to unveil the the LEED plaque in the City Hall lobby will be at 10:15 AM. Light refreshments will be served.
Presentations by Mayor Milissa Holland and Deirdre Irwin of the Florida Water Star program will happen during the opening ceremony. Attendees will have the opportunity to take behind-the-scenes tours of the facility's LEED features, see displays and learn about conservation practices and learn how to apply conservation practices.
City Hall was awarded LEED certification at the Silver level in 2016 for design and construction that demonstrates high performance in sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection and indoor environmental quality.
Environmentally friendly features of the Palm Coast City Hall include: LED lighting, insulated and tinted windows, a high-efficiency HVAC chiller system, low-flow plumbing fixtures, a roof that prevents solar heat gain on the roof, occupancy sensors to automatically control lights, use of building materials with better indoor air quality attributes, preferred parking for energy-efficient vehicles and an Electric Vehicle Charging Station.
