Daytona Beach, FL - Update: At its Wednesday meeting, the Daytona Beach City Commission approved a $750,000 agreement with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) for the design and engineering of a single roundabout project for East International Speedway Blvd. Earlier Reporting: During its Wednesday meeting, the Daytona Beach City Commission is expected to vote on a $750,000 agreement with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) for the design and engineering of a single roundabout project for East International Speedway Blvd. (ISB). Last summer, FDOT asked the City to choose one of three roadway plans for the area of East ISB in Daytona. The options were a Single Roundabout Concept, a Multiple Roundabout Concept, and a No-Build Concept. The City Commission selected the plan for a two-lane single roundabout and widening of the area of ISB from the Halifax River Bridge to SR A1A. You can find earlier reporting here. There would be a 30 mile per hour speed limit for the multi-lane roundabout, and the project could take between eight and 12 months to complete. On Wednesday, the City will vote on the resolution with the FDOT for the design and engineering of the roundabout project. If the agreement is approved, The City is expected to pay the FDOT an advanced deposit of $750,000 to go toward project costs. The City Manager recommends approval of this resolution, according to City records.
