Ormond Beach, FL – The Medical Examiners Office has confirmed that the bone fragment found on the beach on Monday, January 2, in Ormond Beach is the top of a human cranium, but they think it’s centuries old.

The piece of skull was estimated to be hundreds of years old and was sent to UF’s Anthropology Department for further study and more precise carbon dating.

Because the fragment is so old it holds no significant investigatory value, according to officials.
