Case of Missing Deltona Woman Now A Homicide Investigation

Posted
Ormond Beach, FL - The case of a missing Deltona woman, 40-year-old Maria Milagro Marquez-Rivera, took a chilling turn on Thursday, turning into a homicide investigation. A hunter discovered human skeletal remains in a wooded area off of Broadway Avenue in Ormond Beach back in November of 2016. Those remains have since been identified as the remains of Marquez-Rivera, who was reported missing on October 4, 2016. The cause of death is uncertain at this time, but the case is being treated as a homicide. Deputies believe Marquez-Rivera may have been with her ex-boyfriend before she went missing. The vehicle that Marquez-Rivera was driving, a 2009 Chevy Impala, was recovered in the northeastern United States, and detectives with the Major Case Unit have found and interviewed Marquez-Rivera's ex-boyfriend. No charges have been filed, and the investigation is ongoing.
