Train Hits Vehicle In New Smyrna, Killing Occupant Seen Driving On Tracks

New Smyrna Beach, FL - Early Friday morning a cargo train hit a vehicle in New Smyrna Beach, killing the driver. The New Smyrna Beach Police Department is investigating.

According to police, the northbound FEC train hit the vehicle, which was seen driving on the railroad tracks.

The crash happened a little after 3:30 AM near Canal Street west of N Dixie Freeway.

The vehicle did catch fire, but firefighters were able to put out the blaze.
