Skimming Device Found At Gas Pump Near DeLand

DeLand, FL - Some customers' credit and debit cards may be compromised after a card skimming device is found at a gas station.

It was close to midnight on Monday (August 27th) when the Volusia County Sheriff's Office responded to the Circle K gas station on the corner of International Speedway Boulevard and Kepler Road in reference to a suspicious incident.

It's there that they met with an employee who said that when they were doing a routine gas pump examination, they noticed a skimmer attached to one of the pumps and immediately removed it.

The employee told police that they're unsure if any of their customers' information has been compromised and that there wasn't a skimmer on Pump #1 when it was checked by an employee early Sunday morning (August 26th).

The skimmer is now in VCSO's possession and a deputy is investigating, per the incident report.
