Palm Coast, FL - No charges are expected after a 60-year-old Bunnell man died in an accident with a dump truck this morning (December 26th) on U.S. 1 in Flagler County.

Paul E. Swarts was the driver who rear-ended that vehicle just before 6:30 a.m. near Palm Coast's K-section, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Per the just-released report from FHP, Swarts was driving north in a white 2002 Ford Windstar approaching Kankakee Trail when it hit the dump truck from behind as both were riding the outside lane.

Swarts passed away from his injuries soon afterward at Florida Hospital Flagler.

A 12-year-old female passenger in Swarts' vehicle - also from Bunnell - suffered serious injuries in the accident and is now receiving treatment at Halifax Health Medical Center, according to troopers at the scene.

The 60-year-old driver of the dump truck was not hurt, per the report. He and Swarts were wearing seatbelts but the girl was not, according to FHP.

Troopers don't believe alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash.

It's the fifth fatal accident so far this month on Flagler roads, with all but one being on U.S. 1.
