DeLand, FL - Spent casings and a report about a minor who was shot in the leg leads police to launch an investigation.
A report from the DeLand Police Department says they were dispatched to a home off of East Carolina Avenue just after 11 p.m. on Monday (November 12th) in reference to a complaint about someone firing a weapon.
At that property is where officers found two spent casings on the street, at the side of a home on the corner of Carolina on Virginia Avenue. Further investigation would lead officers to find another six in that same yard.
It wouldn't be long until officers received a call from dispatch about a minor who arrived at Florida Hospital DeLand with a gunshot wound to the leg.
It was determined that a possibly black or dark in color, Kia four-door car with three/four black males may be involved.
Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to contact Detective Thomas Gillan at (386)626-7429 or email him at Gillant@deland.org.
