Daytona Beach, FL - In the wake of his mother's fatal accident on Saturday, a young boy is trying to find his dog Copper, who jumped from the wreckage and hasn't been seen since.

35-year-old Crystal J. Duncan of Daytona Beach was heading south on Nova when her vehicle veered left for an unknown reason, crossing the median and all 3 northbound lanes before hitting a palm tree and then 3 parked cars in the Daytona Toyota Collision Center parking lot at 966 W ISB. Duncan was ejected from the vehicle during the crash.

She was brought to Halifax Hospital where she died from her injuries. Witnesses said a medium-size brown dog with a red leash and harness was in the vehicle at the time of the accident, then he jumped out of the wreckage and ran away. The dog's a red tick hound named Copper and was last seen running north on Nova.

The victim's juvenile son would love to have his dog back home. Anyone who's seen a dog matching this description should call the Daytona Beach Police Department at 386-671-5100.
