Man In Custody For Making Bomb Threat On Bus

UPDATE (01-23-19): Ormond Beach Police Department has identified the suspect as 58-year-old Willie Duncan Taylor, a transient in the area. He was charged with false report of a bomb, aggravated assault and disorderly conduct. He's currently in custody at Volusia County Jail on $20,500 bond. Taylor is due in front of a Volusia County judge for the first time tomorrow afternoon (January 24th). Earlier reporting below. UPDATE (01-23-19): The Ormond Beach Police Department says the man who made the threat is now in custody, surrendering peacefully around 10:30 a.m. after talking with negotiators. The man's identity isn't clear at this point, nor is it clear why he made the threat, according to OBPD Officer Keith Walker. Investigators say the Votran bus had just stopped near Seabreeze High when the man - who needs a wheelchair to move - made the threat and demanded that everyone on board get off, including the driver. No injuries are reported and everyone on board the bus got off safely, per Walker. A1A will remain closed until the bomb squad clears the bus of any potential threats.
Earlier reporting below. Ormond Beach, FL - State Road A1A near Seabreeze High School has been shut down to traffic due to a bomb threat. The reported threat is not on the campus but nearby, according to Volusia County emergency dispatchers. Authorities were notified just before nine o'clock this morning. A bomb squad is on its way to the scene near Harvard Drive and A1A. The road is currently closed between Millsap Road in Ormond Beach and Plaza Boulevard in Daytona Beach. Volusia County Schools has placed the Seabreeze High School campus on a precautionary lockdown due to the threat, according to a district spokesperson.
