Body Pulled From Halifax River In Port Orange

Port Orange, FL - The Port Orange Police Department responded to a call about a body floating in the Halifax River around 10:58 yesterday (April 28) near the intersection of Riverside Dr. and Katherine St.

Police report that the man's body was approximately one-hundred feet from the shoreline. Officers from Volusia County Beach Safety helped Port Orange detectives retrieve the body. An autopsy will be performed today.

At this time, the man's identity is not being released pending notification of next of kin. Port Orange Police are actively investigating the man's death. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Benjamin Benzette at 506-5893.
