Juvenile Black Bear Spotted Climbing Trees At Holly Hill Shopping Plaza

Posted

Holly Hill, FL - A black bear caused quite a stir at a Holly Hill Winn Dixie Plaza when it climbed two trees between Wednesday and Thursday in the shopping center at 1577 N. Nova Rd. The bear was first noticed at the top of one tree Wednesday night. Thursday at around 2:30 PM, the bear came down from that tree and scurried up another. The bear remained perched 30-feet high in the second tree before coming down at around 5:30 PM Thursday and then darting off into the woods. Neither the bear nor any onlookers were harmed. Wildlife officials say the bear was to high up in the tree for them to intervene, and they did not want to injure it.
