New Smyrna Beach, FL-Beach Safety officers and lifeguards rescued a paddle boarder Sunday near 14th Avenue in New Smyrna Beach. The 49-year-old Winter Garden man apparently had a medical episode while paddling offshore around 11:15 AM.
Beach Safety personnel and an off-duty duty nurse performed CPR on the man until NSB fire rescue arrived. The man regained a pulse and was taken to Bert Fish Medical Center for treatment. Sunday he was still in the ICU.
