Volusia County, FL-Another sure sign of recovery from Hurricane Matthew? The county has announced that beach driving here will reopen incrementally beginning today. Beach Safety and lifeguards had to be sure the beach was clear of debris and ready to reopen. That includes replacing things removed before the storm including lifeguard towers, toll booths and conservation poles which must also be posted "no vehicles beyond this point' on every third pole. There are 16 miles of beach driving areas in Volusia County. Areas to reopen incrementally are:
  • One-way from Seabreeze Boulevard to University Boulevard in Daytona Beach
  • One-way from International Speedway Boulevard to Silver Beach Avenue in Daytona Beach
  • Dunlawton Avenue to Emilia Avenue in Daytona Beach Shores
  • Flagler Avenue to Third Avenue in New Smyrna Beach
