Daytona Beach Shores, FL-Authorities in Daytona Beach Shores say a man was stabbed to death at a hotel early today in a bizarre robbery attempt. Investigators say 32-year-old Alfonso Echevarria arranged to meet 31-year-old Amy Francesca Stefani at his room at Lexington Inn and Suites through a Backpage.com advertisement. The victim, investigators say, went to the hotel with Stefani.

Investigators say Echevarria met with Stefani of New Smyrna Beach at the hotel room and officers say she pulled a knife on him and tried to rob him. Investigators say he fought with her and was able to take the knife. That's when the victim entered the room. Echevarria used the knife to stab the victim who left the room and collapsed on the sixth floor near the elevator. The victim was found with a single stab wound to the chest and died at the scene. Officers found him around 4:20AM at the South Atlantic Avenue address. Stefani had an open warrant for failure to appear on a prostitution charge. She has also been charged with counts including 2nd-degree murder and is being held on no bond.
