Daytona Beach, FL - A 26-year-old man wanted for attempted murder in the Gainesville area is caught in the Daytona Beach area.

Macajaih Valenzuela is held on $1.1 million bond at Volusia County Jail following his arrest last night at the parking lot of a hotel on State Road A1A.

Valenzuela was wanted in connection to a drive-by shooting yesterday afternoon at a mobile home park in Alachua County, according to the Facebook page for that county's Sheriff's Office.

The Volusia County Sheriff's Office says Valenzuela's vehicle ran past a license plate reader as it entered the area, leading to an alert from the county's Crime Center to first responders on the ground.

Air One - VCSO's helicopter - picked up the vehicle along Oleander Avenue and tracked it to a home on Zelda Boulevard. From there, the vehicle went to a Holiday Inn on A1A where officers took Valenzuela into custody without resistance.

At least three other people were in the car at the time, according to the audio from Air One. It's not clear at this point if they were charged.

Valenzuela is charged with attempted second-degree murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and two counts of shooting into a dwelling.

VCJ records show Valenzuela was also booked in March 2018 on several charges, including fleeing and eluding, possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting an officer without violence.
