Flagler County, FL – With Bike Week 2017 beginning this week, Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly shares advice on how to stay safe throughout the next 10 days.
“We won’t tolerate anyone putting other people’s lives in danger,” says Staly. “Please be extra vigilant and drive defensively, anticipating and preventing dangerous situations that may occur. We want everyone to enjoy themselves while still acting responsibly.”
The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) has prepared to cover the events, activities, and increased traffic brought to Flagler County throughout the week. They will be on high alert for traffic violations, theft, and motorists under the influence.
An area of major concern for the FCSO is the intersection of U.S. 1 and Old Dixie Highway. Drivers should be aware of temporary fencing and signs in that area.
Sherriff Staly also gives tips to drivers and motorists on how to ride safely and how to avoid being victimized by crime. Drivers and pedestrians should be aware of each other and use specifically designated sidewalks and lanes.
Motorists should always be aware of where they park and should lock their motorcycles and take any valuables out of them. The FCSO recommends motorcyclists use quality locks on their bikes to protect themselves from motorcycle theft.
