Another Community Meeting Set For Read-Pattillo Elementary School

New Smyrna Beach, FL- Parents, students, staff and community members are invited tonight to a second meeting to discuss the future of Read-Pattillo Elementary School in New Smyrna Beach. At a meeting held on July 16th, Volusia County Schools Planner Saralee Morrissey outlined several options under consideration by the district, including keeping things the way they are, building a replacement campus at a different site or closing the school permanently. Most parents at that meeting like the first option best. After that meeting, VCS Superintendent Thomas Russell said the turnout showed the district how important the school is to parents, students, and staff. The meeting takes place this evening at 6 p.m. in the cafeteria of Read-Pattillo Elementary. The topic is set to go in front of the School Board very soon for a final decision.
