Volusia County, FL-The second in a series of three bear webinars by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission is tonight. During the first webinar last week, FWC bear management specialist Dave Telesco said it's not certain yet that there will be another black bear hunt in Florida this year. That decision won't be made until the next meeting of the FWC next month.

Florida held it's first black bear hunt in more than two decades last year. Telesco says the hunt is the only way to keep the growing black bear population under control and says birth control for bears isn't practical. Telesco says near Ocala they've seen male bears killing cubs during the winter months amid population growth. Telesco says he expects Florida's bear populations to continue to expand into areas where humans live. Tonights webinar begins at 6PM. You must register to take part. The third and final webinar is Thursday.

More information and registration is at the FWC site here.
