AdventHealth Deltona ER Groundbreak Set For Jan. 11

Deltona, FL - You've known it for a long time as Florida Hospital, but that won't be the case anymore.

Starting today, that hospital chain will now be known as AdventHealth and one of the first places you'll see that new name is on a $12 million construction project beginning later this month near Deltona High School.

A 12-bed emergency room facility on an over four-acre lot just west of the school campus and close to Interstate 4 should be ready to go by the summer, according to AdventHealth spokesperson Lindsay Cashio.

"This free-standing emergency department will care for both adults and children," Cashio added. "It'll offer the same services found in a hospital emergency room, including things like imaging and laboratory services."

The groundbreaking for the 14,000 square foot building will take place January 11th at 10:30 a.m. at the facility location on 3108 Howland Boulevard.

Initial plans for this project were unveiled in August.

The extra land does give AdventHealth the option to expand the new emergency room in the future and add more services if needed, per Cashio.

Approximately 40 full-time employees will be hired at that location once it's operational.

AdventHealth plans to build a similar facility in Palm Coast after making a deal with Flagler County in November to buy six acres of land Matanzas High School for the building.

While those construction projects are about to begin, AdventHealth plans to tear down its old Oceanside location in Ormond Beach starting next week.
