Fake ID's Daytona

Daytona Beach, FL-Daytona Beach police and agents of the Florida Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco spent Spring Break making over 400 underage drinking arrests and confiscating over 200 fake IDs. Daytona Beach Police Chief Mike Chitwood today showed off those IDs and said the joint operation sent a message to spring breakers about what they can and can't do here. The totals were over a three week period.

These arrests are in addition to the hundreds made on the beach by County Beach Saftey and Ocean Rescue officers.

Chitwood gave credit to the four ABT agents involved here and said he hoped that more agents would be on the ground here next year. The agents set up an office at the police headquarters for the duration of the operation.

Chitwood said it was the busiest spring break he can remember in his decade as police chief and called the last six years a "non-event" here. The chief said most of the problems during spring break are "alcohol-fueled".

Chitwood says most of the bogus IDs were bought on the internet.

His message for future spring breakers? "You are not going to come here and create havoc".
