AAA Offering Tow To Go For Memorial Day Weekend To Get Drivers Home Safe

Posted
Florida - With a predicted 35 million American traveling on the roads this Memorial Day weekend, AAA - The Auto Club Group and Budweiser warn drivers to be safe if they are drinking alcohol. Those who plan on drinking should designate a sober driver, call a cab, stay in place or find another safe way home, such as AAA's Tow To Go program. The Tow To Go program will be available to those who need it and have no other safe plans from Friday, May 26 through 6 AM on Tuesday, May 30. "Since the program started in 1998, Tow To Go has removed more than 24,000 impaired drivers from roads in the Southeast and the Midwest," says AAA spokesman, Matt Nasworthy. "And when you think about that, so many other lives have been saved because each one of those drivers presented a danger not only to themselves but to countless others on the road." “If you’re celebrating with alcohol this weekend and not planning ahead, you are risking more lives than just your own,” says Managing Director, Traffic Safety Advocacy for AAA - The Auto Club Group and Executive Director of the ACG Traffic Safety Foundation, Amy Stracke. “Please take time to make sure that you, your loved ones, and everyone else on the road can get home safely.” The Tow To Go program ensures:
  • A confidential ride to a safe location within 10 miles
  • That the AAA tow truck takes the vehicle and the driver home
  • A service free and available to AAA members and non-members
  • Availability in Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Nebraska, Iowa, North Dakota and Indiana (Fort Wayne and South Bend only)
Drivers should note that Tow To Go could be unavailable during severe weather, in rural areas and during high call volume. For Tow To Go availability and dates throughout this year, go here.
