Daytona Beach, FL-The lowest gas prices at the pump in over a decade for the July 4th holiday will mean record-breaking travel numbers nationwide and in Florida. That's the highest July 4th travel period on record both nationally and in Florida. AAA's Mark Jenkins says nearly 43 million Americans will travel at least 50 miles or more away from home for the holiday. That's up by 1.3% over last year. In Florida, 2,148,733 are forecast to travel. That's up 2% over 2015. Jenkins says more Floridians are going by air and says that's linked to airlines passing along fuel savings in the form of low airfares. The number of Floridians going by air is up this year by 1.3% over the July 4th holiday last year. Jenkins advises if you're driving over the long holiday to avoid being on the road on Friday and Monday if you can. Those are the peak travel days. 2016 Southern Stone Communications Copyright
