AAA: Gas Prices Expected To Lower Again After Hike

Daytona Beach, FL  - While wallets might not have liked the brief hike, gas prices could be moving lower soon.

That's the report from AAA after gas prices in the state of Florida during the past week increased two cents with Sunday's state average topping at $2.76 per gallon of regular unleaded, four cents more than a month ago, 47 cents more than last year and the highest in July since 2014.

"Prices at the pump have pinballed around this summer, but fortunately have remained within a 20 cent range," said Mark Jenkins, AAA spokesman. "The limited swings in pump prices and a strong economy has led to one of the biggest driving summers in history. Prices should slip lower this week, due to falling futures prices on the stock market. However, demand historically remains strong through August, which should prevent prices from slipping anywhere near the lows we saw last year."

Volusia County is looking at an average of $2.74 per gallon of regular unleaded without much change from last week's numbers. Flagler is looking at $2.73, only a couple cents cheaper than the state average.

The highest seen in the state right now is West Palm Beach at $2.91, the lowest being a tie between Tampa and Punta Gorda at $2.66.
