Daytona Beach, FL-If you're hitting the road or flying somewhere over the upcoming holiday travel period, get ready to be among a record-setting crowd. AAA forecasts 103 million of us nationwide will travel 50 or more miles away from home and 5,378,552 Floridians will be in that massive number. The national number is up 1.5% over 2015 and the Florida number is up 3.1% over 2015. The national number is the highest ever since AAA started tracking holiday travel in 2001. AAA says rising consumer confidence and an improving job market are part of the picture driving the travel numbers. You can expect crowded roadways as 4,882,223 Floridians are forecast to travel by car. That number is up by 3.1% from 2015. The travel numbers come in spite of recent increases in gas prices at the pump, nationally and in Florida, after OPEC agreed to cut oil production in a move to increase the price of oil by the barrel.     l.2016 Southern Stone Communications Copyright
