Daytona Beach, FL - Florida gas prices set a new 2019 high as the state average rose a total of 9 cents and then declined a penny over the weekend.
AAA's latest report says that Florida drivers are now paying an average of $2.79 per gallon of regular unleaded gas, which is 8 cents more than a week ago.
That average is also nearly 20 cents more than last month and 15 cents more than this time last year.
"Florida gas prices may seem high now, but the state average is still less than last year's high," said Mark Jenkins, spokesperson for AAA. "Although springtime travelers may not be enjoying the recent jump at the pump, it doesn't seem to be slowing them down either."
US gas supply levels have also declined for the eight consecutive week, according to the latest measurement from the US Energy Information Administration.
The latest numbers are 3% lower than the week before.
Locally, Volusia drivers are seeing an average of $2.79 per gallon of regular unleaded gas at the pump, which is on par with the current state average but 7 cents higher than last week's average for the Daytona Beach metro area.
Flagler drivers are seeing close to what Volusia drivers are paying, with an average of $2.78 at the pump for regular unleaded gas.
Around the state, West Palm Beach-Boca Raton is again the highest with an average of $2.87 at the pump, while Pensacola again has the lowest average price of $2.71 per gallon.
The current national average is $2.83, according to AAA.
