Daytona Beach, FL – An 87-year-old woman is dead following a crash between two vehicles that occurred Sunday morning in Daytona Beach.

87-year-old Leonor Ackerson was driving a 2005 Toyota northbound on Pelican Bay Dr. at around 8:47 AM on Sunday. The Daytona Beach Police Department (DBPD) says she started to make a left-hand turn when the light turned green and began heading west on Beville Rd.

Another driver, 19-year-old Issac Allbert, was headed east on Beville driving a 2006 Volkswagen. Police say he ran a red light and struck the Toyota on the driver’s side. Ackerson and Allbert were both rushed to Halifax Heath in Daytona Beach.

Ackerson died at Halifax Health early Monday morning. The crash is still under investigation.
