Daytona Beach, FL- Preparation has been underway on the beach here for a couple of days already for Hurricane Matthew's approach. County Beach Safety Captain Tammy Marris in an interview on "Volusia Today" on WNDB said they've been moving non-essential assets off the beach to safety already. Marris says some items like traffic signs and the like have to remain on the beach for now, but says with years of experience personnel can completely clear the beach of equipment in just a matter of hours. Marris advises that the red flag will fly for the next day or so and even the double red could be deployed meaning no water activity allowed at all. Hurricane Matthew is forecast to pass offshore here by the end of the week.   2016 Southern Stone Communications Copyright
