70-Year-Old Woman Killed During House Fire Near Daytona Beach Shores

Daytona Beach Shores, FL - A 70-year-old woman was killed during a house fire near Daytona Beach Shores early Monday morning. Firefighters and deputies responded to a home on Gladys Terrace at 5:08 AM after a neighbor called 911 and said he saw flames coming from inside the house and smoke coming out through a vent in the roof, according to Volusia County Sheriff's Office (VCSO). When firefighters arrived at the home at 2828 Gladys Terrace, they found 70-year-old Carol Drawdy unresponsive. One firefighter pulled her from the house and attempted life-saving measures, but Drawdy was pronounced dead at 5:23 AM, according to VCSO. There were no immediate signs of foul play or suspicious circumstances at the scene. Officials recovered a cat that survived the fire.
