6-Year-Old Alive After Being Found Floating In Pond At Daytona Apartment Complex

Daytona Beach, FL - Police in Daytona Beach say that the 6-year-old boy who was found floating in the pond at the Breakers Apartments on Saturday afternoon is alive, after having originally been reported dead.

When police got to the scene at 1:51 PM they found Shamari Keene, who had just pulled his son, London, out of the pond at the center of the apartment complex on Jimmy Ann Dr. Officers performed CPR on the 6-year-old until firefighters came. They continued performing CPR and rushed London to Halifax Health Medical Center.

Police interviewed Shamari and London's grandmother and were told that the boy was in the living room of their apartment with his father while his grandmother was in her bedroom. Shamari went to use the bathroom and when he came out London was gone. He searched the apartment and asked the boy's grandmother if she had seen him. Shamari then went outside and found his son in the pond, just east of the apartment, and immediately called 911.

Officials say the Police Department was initially told that London didn't survive the ordeal, but Halifax Health has since informed authorities that the 6-year-old is in fact alive.
