49-Year-Old Man From Port Orange Struck & Killed By Van In Palm Coast

Palm Coast, FL - A man in Palm Coast was struck and killed by a van near the intersection of Colbert Ln. and Willow Oak Blvd. on Wednesday afternoon. 38-year-old Mitchell Short, of Palm Coast, was driving a 2009 Chevrolet Express van northbound along Willow Oak Blvd. at around 3:40 PM Wednesday when a man stepped from the grassy shoulder of the road into the path of the van. Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) says the man was struck by the van and was thrown to the shoulder of the road. He died on scene. The Chevrolet came to a stop near the area of the collision. FHP says that the pedestrian who was killed was a 49-year-old man from Port Orange, but officials are not releasing the name of the man until next-of-kin can be notified.
