48-Year-Old Paisley Man Killed After Being Hit By Amtrak Train In DeLand

DeLand, FL –  Update: The 48-year-old man who was killed after being hit by an Amtrak train in DeLand Tuesday afternoon has been identified as Anthony Cavallero, of Paisley, FL.

Earlier Reporting: 

A 48-year-old man from Paisley, FL was killed after being hit by an Amtrak train with 497 passengers in DeLand on Tuesday afternoon, Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) says.

According to FHP reports, the man was standing on the tracks for an unknown reason at around 4:30 PM on Tuesday near the intersection of SR-44 and Grand Ave. The front of the train, which was traveling northbound, struck the man.

The man died at the scene, and the incident remains under investigation, FHP says. The name of the man is not yet being released until officials can notify next-of-kin, but more information will be released as it becomes available.
