Ormond Beach, FL – A child has suffered serious injuries after being run over by a pickup truck at the beach in Ormond.

Around 3 PM Sunday near the Harvard beach approach, a 4-year-old boy rode a wave on a boogie board close to the traffic lanes. A truck driven by a 19-year-old from Sanford was driving north at 5 to 10 mph on the beach when the child got off the board and ran into the front bumper of the pickup truck. The right side tires then ran over the boy.

The boy was taken to Halifax Health Medical Center with severe injuries but he was conscious and crying while being transported. There is no further information on the condition of the boy. Volusia County Beach Safety has said the driver is not at fault and will not be charged or cited.
