Panhandling Ordinance To Come Soon

Posted

Daytona Beach, FL- A panhandling ordinance has been on the Daytona Beach City Commissions radar for some time. Chief Craig Capri, on the Marc Bernier Show Wednesday afternoon, said he expects the ordinance to go into effect very soon. He predicted what he called "a drastic improvement to the point of panhandling being nonexistent." Capri said that those not breaking the law don't have to worry. Chief Capri also said that his officers will use all legal means to clean up the streets because business owners and residents don't deserve to be harassed. Capri said he believes that the panhandling ordinance will make the streets safer for everybody. On a different note, Capri said that City Manager Jim Chisholm and the First Step Shelter Board have come up with a great plan for the shelter. He went on to say that the shelter would just be one piece of the puzzle to solve homelessness.
