3 Men Arrested For Robbing An Ormond Beach AT&T, Attempting To Flee

Ormond Beach, FL - Three men who robbed an Ormond Beach AT&T store were spotted by the Volusia County Sheriff and arrested after they tried to flee and crashed the vehicle they were traveling in. According to Volusia County Sheriff's Office, 20-year-old Daraja Tinsley, 18-year-old Wendell Harp, and 19-year-old Sheldric Slater robbed the AT&T at 374 W Granada Blvd. in Ormond Beach at around 6:13 PM on Tuesday. Harp shoved the store clerk into a counter, and the trio made off with five iPhones with a total value of $3,539.95. Ormond Beach Police reported that Central Dispatch was advised, and surrounding agencies were notified. Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood eventually identified the getaway vehicle, a white Dodge car traveling southbound on I-95 with a FL tag GHMY13. Chitwood attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the Dodge. The vehicle did not stop and started to flee onto I-4 westbound. Chitwood authorized a vehicle pursuit after it failed to stop. Officials pursued the vehicle with a marked Sheriff's car and a marked Florida Highway Patrol car. The vehicle got off at Dirksen Dr. and crashed near Dirksen Dr. and Grande Vista St. in DeBary, according to VCSO. After the crash, the trio tried to run. Harp and Slater complied withe deputies' directions to stop, and those two were detained for further investigation. Tinsley continued to flee, but was later apprehended by a VCSO deputy and his K9 near Dirksen Dr. and Agua Vista Dr. in DeBary. Tinsley had to be transported to the hospital for medical assistance. All three men were booked on charges of robbery grand theft.
