3 Fires Break Out Off Of 10th St In New Smyrna Beach

New Smyrna Beach, FL - Three fires broke out off of 10th St in New Smyrna Beach on Tuesday afternoon.

The New Smyrna Beach Fire Department and crews from Volusia County, the Florida Forest Service, and the Edgewater Fire Department helped extinguish the blazes.

Dispatch was called around 12:30 PM on May 9 about a small brush fire near 10th Ave in New Smyrna Beach. Crews got to the scene and extinguished the first fire, then the Florida Forestry Service arrived to help fight the 2nd fire. Shortly after that, the 3rd fire sparked. The total area affected by the blazes was 3 acres.

About 8 units and 20 firefighters worked to fight the fires and the FL Forest Service used 4 tractors to create a fire line around the 3rd blaze, which was made up mostly of rail ties. Water was run from a nearby local business over the main train tracks, over a canal, and through a wooded area.

According to NSBFD, smoke conditions are expected over the next few days.

No one was hurt by the fire and an investigation is underway.
