21-Year-Old Woman Killed In Wrong-Way Crash On I-95 Near Ormond Beach

Ormond Beach, FLUpdate: The name of the woman driving the Toyota Prius and the man driving the Ford pickup truck in Sunday's crash near Ormond Beach have been released. The woman's name is Maria Stengel, and the man's name is Alex Edward Jamison.

A wrong-way crash at mile marker 269 on I-95 near Ormond Beach has left one person dead and another seriously injured.

At around 1:55 AM Sunday, a 28-year-old man from South Carolina was driving his Ford pickup truck the wrong way on I-95. He was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes when he struck a Toyota Prius head-on. The man’s pickup flipped, but he was able to get himself out of the truck with only minor injuries.

The driver of the Prius, a 29-year-old woman from Boca Raton, sustained serious injuries and was taken to Halifax Health Medical Center. The passenger of the Prius, a 21-year-old woman from Pompano Beach, was killed.

There is an ongoing investigation into the crash and whether alcohol was involved. Charges against the pickup truck driver are pending.
