2017 USLA National Lifeguard Championships Start Aug 9 In Daytona Beach

Daytona Beach, FL - The 2017 United States Lifesaving Association (USLA) National Lifeguard Championships are set to run August 9 through 12 in Daytona Beach.

Hosted by the Volusia Surf Lifesaving Association (VSLA) and overseen by Volusia County's Beach Safety Division, the 4-day event will be held on the beach behind the Ocean Walk. Almost 3,000 junior, professional, alumnus and life members of the USLA will compete in events such as:

  • board races
  • surf swims
  • surf boat races
  • beach flag
  • rescue races
  • running relays
  • a 2K beach run
  • iron man and iron woman competitions

The adult championships will be held from August 10 through 12 and the Junior Lifeguard Championships will be held on August 9.

In 2015, the USLA championships were held in Daytona Beach as well. You can watch a video of that event here.
