It was around 9 AM when a woman reported a white man had robbed her at gunpoint at 336 E. New York Ave. She told officers that she was sitting inside her vehicle outside the US Post Office when 36-year-old Shawn McFaddin opened the door, held a gun to her side and demanded that she give him her purse. She went on to say that McFaddin grabbed the purse and dragged her outside of her vehicle and into the parking lot. The woman resisted and was able to fight off McFaddin who then fled in a red pickup truck. The truck was stopped about 5 minutes later by VCSO deputies near Freedom Elementary School on S. Blue Lake Ave. DeLand Police arrived on scene shortly thereafter. During the stop, officers saw a gun that was in plain view underneath the driver seat. McFaddin was charged with robbery by sudden snatching with a firearm as well as aggravated battery on a person using a deadly weapon. According to their records, McFaddin has now been booked at the Volusia County Jail on 8 separate occasions. 35-year-old Jayson Rowley was the driver of the getaway vehicle and has been charged with accessory after the fact to robbery, along with other charges. Rowley's priors include illegal use of a credit card, burglary of an occupied dwelling, and grand theft. Both men were taken to the Volusia County Jail. mcfaddins gun
