2 Juveniles Charged Following Armed Carjacking At A DeLand Apartment

DeLand, FL - Two juveniles were arrested Wednesday following an armed carjacking at the Hunters Creek apartment complex in DeLand. DeLand police say they received a call about the carjacking at the apartment complex at 927 Hunters Creek Dr. at around 2:33 PM Wednesday. A victim reported that an armed black male approached him at the complex, followed him, pointed a gun at his head, and demanded his keys and phone. The suspect got away with the victim's Chevy Cobalt, according to DeLand police reports. DeLand Police Department and Volusia County Sheriff's Office searched the area but were unable to find the suspect. DeLand police say the Sanford Police Department found the victim's car at 306 N. Hwy. 17-92 in Longwood. Two juveniles were in the car. One of the juveniles was identified as the carjacking suspect, and he confessed. One suspect was charged with armed carjacking, armed robbery, and aggravated battery. The other suspect was charged with trespassing on a conveyance. Copyright Southern Stone Communications 2018.
