Palm Coast, FL - Two Flagler County fugitives were arrested in Palm Coast on Sunday following a joint agency initiative between the Flagler County Sheriff's Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF).
Johnnie Spydale Thomas Jr., 24, and Jayla Teyanna Steward, 19, were taken into custody on December 4 at 52 Filbert Lane in Palm Coast after detectives got information suggesting that Thomas was at that address. When they arrived, deputies made contact with a woman who was later identified as Steward. She initially told them that no one else was in the home, but when she let FCSO deputies and ATF agents search the home they found Thomas hiding in a master bedroom closet.
Following a joint agency initiative in September, called Operation Heat Seeker, Thomas was wanted on federal charges for the sale and possession of cocaine and for felony possession of a firearm. According to FCSO, after he arrested on Sunday, Thomas was also charged with being a fugitive from justice and failure to appear on a Flagler County warrant, a felony offense. He's being held at the Flagler County Detention Facility without bond.
Steward also had an active Flagler County warrant for her arrest and she was in violation of her probation. She was arrested and is also being held at the Flagler County Detention Facility without bond.
“Another example of two agencies working together to get the bad guys off the streets,” said Sheriff Rick Staly. “We were happy to assist ATF in the warrant service for Johnnie Thomas, and in return, we located another Flagler fugitive to take into custody. Now both are booked into the Green Roof Inn.”
