2 Dead, Including An 11-Year-Old, & 1 In Critical Condition After Fiery DeLand Wreck

DeLand, FL - A 73-year-old man and an 11-year-old boy from DeLand are dead and another man is in critical condition after two vehicles collided and burst into flames in DeLand on Thursday night.

A 2010 Chevy Camaro was heading north at a high rate of speed on State Road 15A approaching Cascade Parks Blvd at around 10 PM on the night of June 22. A 2009 Chevy pickup truck was traveling westbound on Cascade Parks Blvd approaching the intersection with SR-15A at the same time.

The pickup truck went into the intersection and into the path of the Camaro and was hit on the left side. The pickup truck flipped over and caught fire, coming to rest in the southbound lanes of SR-15A. The Camaro stopped in the northbound inside lane and also caught fire.

The 73-year-old driver and 11-year-old passenger of the truck, which was fully engulfed in flames, were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Camaro is in critical condition and is being treated at Halifax Health in Daytona Beach.

The driver of the Camaro hasn't been identified yet and the names of the deceased won't be released until next of kin have been notified. The investigation is ongoing.
