19-Year-Old Shot And Wounded In Deltona

Deltona, FL-Deputies say a 19-year-old was shot in the leg in Deltona early Saturday morning. His wound is not life-threatening.

VCSO spokesman Gary Davidson says deputies responded the intersection of Alamanda Avenue and Greynolds Street after a report of gunshots around 12:16 AM.

Deputies got to the scene and found out Tyler Sheaffer had been shot and was being driven to Florida Hospital Fish Memorial by his mother. Deputies talked ot Sheaffer at the hospital and he told them he was walking home when a car pulled up to him and the people in the vehicle told him to get out of the roadway. Words were exchanged and the driver, Sheaffer says, then got out of the vehicle, pointed a gun at him and fired about 10 times. One round hit him in the leg.

The victim told deptuies he didn't know anyone in the vehicle. The investigation is continuing.
