15 People Displaced By Fire At Ormond Assisted Living Facility

Ormond Beach, FL - 15 people are now without a home after a fire burned through the inside of an assisted living facility in Ormond Beach. First responders - mostly from Volusia County Fire Rescue - were called to the scene at 725 Parque Drive around 4:30 p.m. today (October 3rd). That's around a half-mile north of the Publix on U.S. 1, close to the border of Holly Hill and Ormond Beach.

Residents at the home say the fire appears to have started on a chair in the back porch of the home and spread to the inside of the house. Fire crews at the scene tell us the home is likely a total loss, with most everything inside damaged by flames, smoke or the water used to put it out.

No dollar estimate for the damage is available at this time. No injuries were reported as everyone who was inside at the time managed to get out safely. It's not clear how the fire started or if it was accidental or intentional. The American Red Cross has been called in to help the residents, per fire officials at the scene.
