Pierson, FL - A suspect in a shooting that happened at a party in Pierson over the weekend is in custody and facing an attempted first-degree murder charge. Volusia County Sheriff's deputies arrested Kelley Anderson, 24, on Thursday night in connection to that shooting, which happened at around midnight on Sunday at a family party on Pecan St. Authorities say no one was hurt in the shooting.

Detectives say the shooting was related to a physical altercation that happened last Thursday, April 12, involving Anderson's girlfriend. When Anderson found out about the incident he went to Pierson to seek retribution. The victim told deputies that two unknown men drove up to him during the party, spoke with him for a few minutes, and then fired several shots. The victim said he took cover behind a nearby pickup truck. When detectives got to the scene they found two vehicles with bullet holes. They took castings of tire tracks that they found in the parking area, which eventually led them to match a unique pattern found on the tires of Anderson's car. Several .40 caliber shell casings, including .40 caliber Winchester casings, were also found at the scene. Officials say that a review of past cases revealed that Anderson had been involved in two previous incidents involving a stolen .40 caliber "Mac 40" handgun that was never recovered. One of those cases was an armed robbery where the suspects shot at a bartender at Pat's Place Bar in DeLand. A Winchester shell casing was found at the scene of that robbery. Detectives think there was another shooter involved in the incident, so they're asking that anyone who might have information that could lead them to a second suspect contact Crime Stoppers of Northeast Florida at 1-888-277-TIPS or at WeStopCrime.com. Tipsters will remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $5,000. Photo courtesy Jacob Barone's Law Enforcement Photography and Flickr.com.
