Volusia County, FL - Men and women interested in a career in public protection have an opportunity to join Volusia County's Division of Corrections.

A career fair will be hosted by the division on Wednesday, April 12, from 1 to 4:30 PM at the Volusia County Branch Jail, 1300 Red John Drive, Daytona Beach.

Attendees will get the chance to meet with staff, tour the facility, and learn about job responsibilities. In addition, they can also fill out an application and begin the pre-screening process.

Officer trainees are paid $14.62 an hour as they undergo 420 hours of academy training.

Applicants must be at least 19 years old, tobacco free, and in good physical condition. They must also have a Florida's driver license, a high school diploma, or a GED certificate. They also can't have a felony or misdemeanor conviction involving moral character, perjury, or false statements.
