Daytona Beach, FL - In response to concerns expressed by the public, Volusia County Animal Control is posting an Animal Abuse Listing on its page at volusia.org. Animal Services Director Adam Leath wants people to know that this is a listing, not a registry. He said that it is compiled of information available to the public and only shows people who have already been found guilty on charges involving an animal.
Leath said the goal of the listing is to have all the information for those found guilty all in one place and to make it easy to read. He said another use for the list is for those involved in the placement of animals so that they can make sure not to turn an animal over to someone who shouldn't have one. You can find the list by clicking here.
Volusia County Animal Control also posts a list of dangerous dogs in the county on their website which shows a picture of the dog, last known address and date they were deemed dangerous.
Another service is low cost spay/neuter at the new clinic on Indian Lake Road. The state-of-the-art clinic provides low-cost and reduced-fee animal sterilization to residents of unincorporated areas of Volusia County and the cities of DeLand and South Daytona. Services are by appointment only.
Prices range from $15 to $65 and are based on income. Residents who do not meet the criteria for the guidelines will be referred to another low-cost spay/neuter program.
