Volusia County Council - A Look At Today's Meeting

Posted

DeLand, FL - The Volusia County Council only has one meeting scheduled this month and it has a 40-item consent agenda. Most of the items are routine but one of note is funding from the American Rescue Plan Act in the amount of $4,232,001 for the Daytona Beach International Airport.  Staff recommends approval of Item A. The money will be used for qualified costs related to operations, personnel, cleaning, sanitization, janitorial services, combating the spread of pathogens at the airport, and debt service payments.

On the regular agenda, Item 8, the Volusia County Community Services Community Assistance Division is asking for match funding from the County Council for the current fiscal year in the amount of $4,370,752. Staff has compiled four options. The state provides funding to local nonprofit agencies for the delivery of substance abuse and mental health services and requires a local match as a condition of this funding. The Children's Home Society, Halifax Hospital Medical Center, SMA Healthcare and The House Next Door have been identified as agencies in Volusia County requiring local match amounts.

Today's meeting begins at 9:30 a.m. with public comment.
