The deputies involved in the shooting have been identified as David Teske, 33, who was hired in 2013 and Bryan Luoma, 48, who was hired in 2003. As part of a routine procedure, they have been put on paid administrative leave pending an investigation. Earlier Reporting: A fleeing suspect was shot by Volusia County Sheriff's deputies on Tuesday shortly after committing his third carjacking of the day. It all started at around 4:07 PM at the Discount Market at 1100 W. Euclid Ave. in DeLand. The suspect stole his boyfriend's vehicle after a physical altercation. The boyfriend was dragged and injured by the vehicle. Officials say his injuries are non-life-threatening. The suspect then crashed the vehicle he stole from his boyfriend into a pickup truck.. so he stole another vehicle, which belonged to two people who had stopped to help the injured boyfriend. The suspect took that vehicle onto I-4 eastbound and to Bellevue Ave. in Daytona Beach. That's where he carjacked his third victim of the day. VCSO says at this point deputies caught up to him and opened fire, wounding him. No deputies were injured. The suspect was brought to Halifax Health with several gunshot wounds. Officials expect him to survive. At this point, he's being charged with violation of probation, but other charges are pending against him. VCSO has not released the names of the suspect and deputies involved in the shooting at this point. The two deputies who fired their weapons have been placed on paid administrative leave and the FL Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the shooting - both are standard procedure in all deputy-involved shootings.
